Meeting Karen from Karen Tran Florals was such a pleasure, and it was an even greater pleasure to work on a photo shoot with her. This wonderful luxury styled shoot at The Dorchester Hotel in London was styled by Karen and ourselves and the theme of the shoot was to base it on the popular TV series Downtown Abbey.

Downtown Abbey is based in the 1920s so it is a vintage period but also quintessentially English. The TV programme has become an international hit and is shaping the world of fashion and weddings in the most sophisticated and glamorous of ways. Susannah Buxton, Downtown Abbey’s original fashion designer, is responsible for the impeccably feminine and stylish WW1 and post WW2 eye candy, and these looks are spilling over into everyday contemporary life. For our shoot, we had the pleasure of using Andrew Prince’s original jewellery used for the TV series and vintage props such as a gramophone and old telephone. Brides are crazy for vintage weddings and people are generally crazy about Downtown Abbey so we created a wedding style that reflected the 1920’s but with a modern twist.

We had the honour of using Claire Pettibone’s fabulous dresses, Harriet Wilde’s lace shoes, glassware and plates from Options UK, candelabras and tableware from Wedding Day Hire and vintage crockery from The Crockery Cupboard. In addition, we had calligraphy by Paul Antonio and a wonderful cake by Olofson Design.

Karen Tran put together some sensational floral pieces for the table, as well as a bridal bouquet. The table oozed luxury and really was set for a banquet. There was lace, pearls, satin and beading in the detail.
