What can we expect to see catch on quickly in weddings this year? We look at Wedding Trends for 2013
- Bold Statement Dress
It’s all about the dress and in 2013 it’s all about the colour. For an alternative to the traditional white gown 2013 sees an explosion of colour allowing brides to really experiment with their style. Mixed in with the traditional white gowns the spring 2013 runway showcased some incredible gowns by designers such as Vera Wang and Oscar De La Renta, who have taken bold colours to a whole new level. Carrying on the 2012 trend, this year lace is still a popular choice for brides. Inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge’s stunning 2012 Royal Wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen), lace is an extremely popular choice in dress design. Adding a touch of elegance it seems this trend is here to stay.
Already a popular choice for wedding dresses; in 2013 expect to see the use of lace spread to other areas of the wedding. In fact this elegant, romantic and enduring fabric is being incorporated throughout weddings from cakes to invites to table decorations to create a truly unique style.
Vintage was big in 2012 and it looks like it won’t be disappearing in 2013 either. Inspired by popular dramas such as Downton Abbey and the release this Spring of The Great Gatsby, 2013 will see a small shift towards the styles of the 1920’s and 30’s in both dress design and decoration. Imagine elegant gowns, crisp lace and stunning décor to truly reflect the romanticism of the 1920/30’s.
- Personalised & Intimate Weddings
Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and your big day should reflect that. In the last few years more and more couples have opted to personalise their wedding day to reflect them as a couple and this trend will continue to dominate in 2013. Couples are choosing to invite smaller numbers and taking more time to put their mark on their big day by emphasising the detail in the stationary, linen and furniture. From creating your own favours, table decorations and even picking your own flowers couples are able to create their perfect wedding.
- Outdoor Weddings
Another popular trend for 2013 will see more and more couples opt to marry outdoors (providing the weather doesn’t let you down). Whether it’s the stunning grounds of a hotel, an old historic building or your own garden an outdoor wedding is often the perfect place to get married. Combining the elements of nature with many traditional wedding touches, outdoor weddings continue to be a popular choice.
- Green Colour Palette
When people used to think of green for a wedding theme, it wasn’t a pleasant thought, but this year its going to a very sought after colour to use for the theme of the wedding. Especially softer tones of green such as peppermint and pastels which look absolutely beautiful.
