Vera Wang’s new Spring 2014 collection was recently showcased at New York’s Bridal Market. Vera has been known to shock and excite viewers with her interesting, bold designs and this time was no different. Last Spring she blew everyone away with her all-red gowns. This Spring, she showed everyone how to do Black & White. You will of course find that you either love or hate them!

She opened the show with two very simple ivory silk gowns.

To follow were the Black and White Statement dresses showing off how Black can work magically opposite white. Some of the dresses were all ivory and the splash of black was made with the amazing full-length leather gloves.

Before the show Vera said, “It’s a new way for me to look at sophistication and sensuality. There is more skin showing, and some sportswear references.”

We are sure many bridal designers will follow suit and you will start seeing more of them incorporating black trimmings on their dresses, such as a black waistband or a hint of black underneath the lace.

Vera Wang’s bold and beautiful collection will be in stores from December. Available at Brown’s in London.

If you are considering a Black & White/Monochrome theme for your wedding, it can be classy, exciting and clean cut. Remember, not everything has to be in black and white, a hint of another colour can work too. Here is some inspiration to reassure you Black and White is not at all scary!
